Tame Tummy

is a mobile application for tracking health and eating habits, designed for people with digestive disorders. Users can quickly log meals, symptoms, and overall well-being through an intuitive interface, analyze symptom dynamics with clear visual charts, and identify food triggers. The app generates personalized PDF reports for doctor consultations and works fully offline, helping users improve their quality of life and take control of their health

Since

2023

A private entrepreneur from the USA with a strong personal interest in digestive health and wellness. The client aimed to create an accessible tool that helps people with digestive disorders track their eating habits, understand how food affects their well-being, and share meaningful data with their doctors. They valued a clean, user-friendly design and complete privacy of personal health data

Solution

We developed a cross-platform mobile application for iOS and Android using Flutter, which allowed us to deliver a consistent user experience on both platforms while optimizing development time. The project was built on Clean Architecture principles with BLoC-based state management and GetIt for dependency injection, ensuring a modular structure that remains easy to scale and maintain as new features are added.

The user interface was implemented pixel-perfect according to Figma mockups, combining Material and Cupertino components to deliver a native look and feel on each platform. Special attention was paid to the speed of data entry: users can log meals, symptoms, and well-being in just a few taps.

Since the application works without a server side, all user data is stored locally using the Floor database and SharedPreferences. We designed a flexible data model capable of handling heterogeneous information, from meals and ingredients to symptom intensity and daily notes, while guaranteeing stable performance in fully offline mode.

To help users identify food triggers, we built interactive charts with Syncfusion that visualize symptom dynamics over time. The charts remain smooth and responsive even with large amounts of accumulated data.

The app also generates personalized PDF reports that users can export and share with their doctors, turning daily records into structured medical insights. Firebase Analytics and Crashlytics were integrated to track user scenarios and monitor stability without affecting the user experience or offline functionality, while Google Mobile Ads provided a monetization model for the product.

The result is a reliable, fully offline health companion with a clean modular architecture that helps users better understand their bodies and improve their quality of life.

Challenges

Managing heterogeneous user data without a backend

Storing and processing diverse data types such as meals, symptoms, and well-being records entirely on the device required a flexible local database structure that ensures data integrity and fast access in fully offline mode

Delivering a pixel-perfect UI based on Figma mockups

Implementing the interface exactly according to the design mockups required careful work with layouts, typography, and animations to maintain a consistent and precise appearance across iOS and Android devices

Building clear and high-performance data visualization

Creating interactive charts for analyzing symptom dynamics was challenging due to the need to process growing volumes of data while keeping visualizations smooth, responsive, and easy to understand

Generating and exporting PDF reports

Developing personalized PDF reports for medical consultations required transforming raw user records into structured, readable documents while ensuring correct formatting and data consistency

Maintaining a clean and scalable architecture

Keeping the codebase modular and maintainable as functionality grew required strict adherence to Clean Architecture principles, a well-structured BLoC layer, and clear separation of responsibilities between modules
